MS Dhoni, the most successful captain in the history of the Indian Premier League, featured in his 150th game in the glitzy T20 league.Out of the 150 IPL matches Dhoni has played in, 143 came as captain. No other player has captained in more IPL matches. Kolkata Knight Riders’ Gautam Gambhir is second with 114 matches as captain.Dhoni was captain of Chennai Super Kings for eight years from 2008 to 2015 and led them to two IPL titles. When CSK was banned for two years, Dhoni was signed up by Rising Pune Supegiant. However, it was a completely different experience for the former India captain as Pune failed to make the cut to the last four in 2016. Weeks before the 10th edition, he was removed as captain and replaced by Steve Smith.Dhoni had a poor start to IPL 10 and managed only 61 runs in five matches before doubling his tally with a brutal 34-ball 61 against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad.Dhoni had stepped down as India’s limited-overs captain earlier this year and has since been in good form in international cricket. He slammed his first ODI hundred since 2013 in the series against England before scoring his maiden T20 International fifty against the same opponents.
