This residence is located slightly apart from the main residential area in Ikoma, Nara prefecture. The residents purchased the property because they liked the feeling of nature close at hand. The lot is longer from east to west than from north to south, with woods on the east side; Mt. Ikoma is visible to the west. In this district, regulations stipulate the colors of exterior walls and roofs on newly built houses, and require that they have sloped gable roofs. The architects therefore sought a design that made optimal use of the required triangular roof.Save this picture!Floor PlanThe residents have a largely indoor lifestyle, and wanted windows from which to view the woods and Mt. Ikoma, as well as walls on which to display the Japanese-style paintings that they enjoy creating as a hobby.Save this picture!© Toshiyuki YanoThe architects responded by proposing that the living-dining-kitchen area and other areas shared by the whole family serve as a “gallery” running all the way from east to west. Because the gallery meanders back and forth in a zigzag shape, the atmosphere varies from one section to the next, with direct and reflected light from the east and west ends blending in an interesting way.Save this picture!Courtesy of FujiwaraMuro ArchitectsThe entryway and kitchen are located in the central space, with the living-dining room, sunroom, and studio on the east side. The living room and sunroom are designed so that neighbors cannot see in, but the residents inside are able to look out on a view of the woods. On the west side of the entryway is a second living room with a view of Mt. Ikoma.Save this picture!© Toshiyuki YanoProject gallerySee allShow lessChiang House / 2BOOKS designSelected ProjectsKerning for a Cause 2017Ideas Share Japan “COPY” CopyHouses•Ikoma, Japanlast_img read more

Gorillaz End Roskilde Set Early After Del The Funky Homosapien Falls Offstage During “Clint Eastwood” [Video]

first_imgGorillaz set at Denmark’s famous Roskilde Festival was cut short on Saturday evening after Del the Funky Homosapien took a fall off the stage during the set-closing performance of their smash hit 2001 collaboration, “Clint Eastwood”. As The Independent reports, the song was intended to be the last of their performance, but Del unexpectedly slipped just a couple lines into his first verse (“Finally, someone let me out of my cage; Now, time for me is nothing ’cause I’m counting no age”).The animated group’s human mastermind, Damon Albarn, immediately rushed over to see if Del was alright, the beat still blaring. After the music had stopped and an uncertain pause had ensued, Albarn stepped to the microphone to issue an unfulfilled goodbye to the Danish crowd. As Albarn explained,Thank you so much for a beautiful, beautiful night. Unfortunately, we’ve had a… uh… I don’t know yet. Listen, guys. There’s a strange bit here…You know, unfortunately, Del, like, slipped down there. It’s a really weird way to end a beautiful night, but he’s gonna be okay. We have to finish now, so thank you so much for a beautiful night. See you again soon.It seems as though Del is okay, though certainly injured from his tumble. As he explained on Twitter, You can see crowd-shot footage of Del’s stage fall and Albarn’s address to the audience below.Del the Funky Homosapien falls offstage, Damon Albarn addresses the audience[Video: thatguy]Gorillaz are coming off the release of their newest album, The Now Now, which features a number of guest appearances including Snoop Dogg and Jaimie Principle on the single “Hollywood”.
