Elkhart County issues new rental, utility assistance program

first_imgIndianaLocalNews (Photo supplied/Elkhart County Indiana) Elkhart County has rolled out a new program designed to help with rent and utility payments.The program is specifically meant for families who have experienced COVID-related financial hardship in their homes.Households eligible for assistance must meet the following criteria:Qualifies for unemployment or has experienced a reduction in household income, incurred significant costs or experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19.Demonstrates a risk of experiencing homelessness or housing instability.Has a household income at or below 80% of the area median.The program, designed to provide financial assistance for 12 months, can also cover past due bills from up to six months prior.To apply, visit elkhartcounty.com/rentalassistance or call (317) 452-8363.
