Tweet this comment Cancel Submit Comment Subscribe to None Replies All new comments John McConnellSubmitted to Sumner Newscow by the Sumner County Attorney General’s office â€“ A Sumner County man was sentenced to more than 25 years in prison today after being convicted of methamphetamine and gun charges, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt said.John David McConnell, 51, of South Haven, was sentenced to 308 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections for manufacturing methamphetamine by Judge R. Scott McQuin in Sumner County District Court. In addition, McConnell was sentenced to six months for criminal possession of firearm, 11 months for possession of drug precursor, 11 months for possession of methamphetamine, 11 months for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and 6 months for possession of marijuana with no tax stamp. McQuin ordered the sentences to run concurrently.A Sumner County jury convicted McConnell of the charges last month.The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Sumner County Sheriffâ€™s Office, Cowley County Sheriffâ€™s Office, Kansas Bureau of Investigation and Kay County, Okla., Sheriffâ€™s Office. Assistant Attorney General Greg Benefiel of Schmidtâ€™s office prosecuted the case.
