WARNING AS ICY ROADS RETURN BUT FORECASTERS AT ODDS OVER SNOW PREDICTION

first_imgA WIDESPREAD overnight frost has once again left many roads across Co Donegal dangerous this morning. The AA, Gardai and Road Safety Authority have issued urgent warnings regarding many roads. There is black ice and there are slippery surfaces in Milford, Ramelton, in and around Letterkenny, Convoy, St Johnston, Buncrana, Carndonagh, Pettigo, Donegal Town, Ballyshannon, Ballybofey, Newtowncunningham and Termon. Gardai say motorists should drive with extreme caution and expect long delays in many areas as a result.Temperatures dropped to -2C at Finner by 1am and fell further to -4C in many inland areas of Co Donegal overnight.Meanwhile forecasters are at odds over snow for later this week.Met Eireann says it believes snow will arrive this Thursday as a low front from the west clashes with cold northerly air. It is predicting that it will be cold throughout this week and there could be further snow “accumulations at low levels” on Friday. However the BBC in the North is hedging its bets, saying it’s not just sure yet whether it will snow – but it “might.”The weather website wunderground.com is giving a 60% chance of snow using data from Carndonagh and Finner.WARNING AS ICY ROADS RETURN BUT FORECASTERS AT ODDS OVER SNOW PREDICTION was last modified: December 10th, 2012 by BrendaShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:ICY ROADS RETURN AS MET EIREANN REPEATS SNOW PREDICTIONlast_img
