Big names to make and miss the US Open on Monday at

first_imgU.S. Open Sectional Qualifying wrapped up Monday evening, and plenty of big names made it to Pebble Beach — while others fell short. A massive number of PGA Tour pros took part in qualifiers across the U.S. plus England and Canada in search of 75 spots. Sectional qualifying consists of a grueling 36-hole day that takes places annually two Mondays before the U.S. Open begins, and is part of the uniquely democratic national championship.This year’s notables to qualify included a former world No. 1 (Luke Donald), a Masters champion (Mike Weir) and former Ryder Cuppers (including Thomas Pieters). But you could also make an All-Star team with the guys who failed to advance through qualifying.
